Cups, Cups, Cups

I am loving all these personalized carnival cups and tumblers out there! Now I just have to choose which one I want to order!

*I am also thinking up the possibility of buying a cheap carnival cup at Target/Walmart and adding my own sticker/decal. Has anyone done this before?

Geekin' Out

Since I have been talking so much about my internship and project this summer, I thought I would share some of my learnings with you!

My project revolves around web analytics, which measure visitor interactions within a web site, measuring metrics such as pageviews, visitors, location, and visit duration. By taking this data and manipulating to information you can continue to keep consumers engaged in your site.

One tool that is great for the blog world is Google Analytics. It is a free product and a leader in web analytics. I set Google Analytics up with my blog earlier in the summer as a “demo” and have learned a lot about my visitors.

Plot of my visitors for the month of July.

I have found many interesting facts about visitors to my site including my most popular page by far is Keep Calm & Carry On, most of my visitors use Google Chrome as their browser, and international visitors come from places like the UK, Costa Rica, Hungary, and India!

This is a great source for other bloggers out there to see the demographic of their readers. If you want a simpler, high level overview, check out the “Stats” section in your Blogger.

Remember

One of the biggest days of my internship is Monday. This week has been super crazy, I have not spent more than 4 hours at my office until Friday and with the infamous presentation in front of the entire senior team looming I am not as prepared as I wish I could be.

I gave my presentation to my team today and was clearly upset. I was on the verge of crying, with 6 men (no women) in the room, for basically no reason. While none of them made a big deal out of it, they all clearly noticed at my emotion. It was NOT good.

To make matters worse, when one of the previous VT interns came by I literally started crying for about 5 minutes straight. I felt so bad for him but he was very supportive and helped me realize to keep positive. I am so grateful for all the support I have here at work and can deal with my crazy girl emotions.

I gave my presentation twice more later that day and did much better. I just need to remember confidence is the most important thing and to have faith in myself. Sometimes you just need to remind yourself you are special and to never give up. These quotes always give me the inspiration and motivation to continue on.

Desks

I am moving into a new townhouse in less than a month! While I have furniture from my previous apartment I am still trying to get some inspiration to help decorate. I am loving some desks I have found recently and while I am reusing my old desk, I can take some of the ideas from the spaces and apply them to "embellish" my current situation!

What do you think? Do you have any ideas for helping decorate a desk area?

Chicago

So I am back in Richmond after my short trip to the windy city! It was great being able to travel, but after running around all day Monday and my 5am wake call on Tuesday, I am glad to be back to my granny schedule.

My hotel was absolutely amazing! If you head to downtown Chicago definitely check out the Marriott Renaissance! My amazing views consisted of...

Chicago Sign

Trump Tower and Chicago River

I had some great food and a little bit of time to explore the city, but I was really there for work! But the building I was working in was blown up in Transformers 3, I will have to go check it out!

Setting on a Jet Plane

Hi Everyone! I am off to the Windy City for a short business trip. I am hoping I will have an hour or two of free time to walk around Chicago but I am thankful to have the opportunity to travel as an intern.

I will be staying at the Marriott Renaissance Downtown! It is only a block off Michigan Ave. I stayed at the Renaissance in New York and it was amazing!

Has anyone been to Chicago? What are the best places to explore?

Random Wednesday

So I had a great weekend at my Rivah House with my family! Back to reality now with less than 2 weeks until my Intern project presentation and its getting to crunch time! These next two weeks are busy, busy, busy and I need to finish my year off with a bang!

Today I had nothing to do, so I (surpise!) went shopping! I got a black blouse at Anthropologie and this Dooney and Bourke cross body in navy! I want a cross body for bars/going out that will withstand any dirt/stains, so I thought this simple nylon bag fit the bill!

Tell me what you think!

On another completely unrelated note, USA Women's Soccer is amazing! The Women's World Cup is currently taking place in Germany and US beat Brazil in an absolutely amazing win! Even after 2 unnecessary penalty kicks, a red card leaving the US to play a man down and going down a goal in overtime the women persevered and showed everyone that fighting US spirit. I literally get goosebumps it was so amazing and the true meaning of never giving up!

Dogeared

I love dogeared! Their styles are so simple yet so beautiful and can be given for so many different and important occasions. I am searching for the perfect one, "just because," for me!

I got this for my best friend's birthday in high school! She still wears it and layers it with other necklaces and it looks so chic!

Here are some of my favorites from their Make a Wish and Karma lines!

Check out their site! Which is your favorite?

Just Do It

You were born a daughter.

You looked up to your mother.

You looked up to your father.

You looked up at everyone.

You wanted to be a princess.

You thought you were a princess.

You wanted to own a horse.

You wanted to be a horse.

You wanted your brother to be a horse.

You wanted to wear pink.

You never wanted to wear pink.

You wanted to be a Veterinarian.

You wanted to be President.

You wanted to be the President’s Veterinarian.

You were picked last for the team.

You were the best one on the team.

You refused to be on the team.

You wanted to be good in algebra.

You hid during algebra.

You wanted the boys to notice you.

You were afraid the boys would notice you.

You started to get acne.

You started to get breasts.

You started to get acne that was bigger than your breasts.

You wouldn’t wear a bra.

You couldn’t wait to wear a bra.

You couldn’t fit into a bra.

You didn’t like the way you looked.

You didn’t like the way your parents looked.

You didn’t want to grow up.

You had your first best friend.

You had your first date.

You had your second best friend.

You had your second first date.

You spent hours on the telephone.

You got kissed.

You got to kiss back.

You went to the prom.

You didn’t go to the prom.

You went to the prom with the wrong person.

You spent hours on the telephone.

You fell in love.

You fell in love.

You fell in love.

You lost your best friend.

You lost your other best friend.

You really fell in love.

You became a steady girlfriend.

You became a significant other.

YOU BECAME SIGNIFICANT TO YOURSELF.

Sooner or later, you start taking yourself seriously. You know when you need a break. You know when you need a rest. You know what to get worked up about and what to get rid of. And you know when it’s time to take care of yourself, for yourself. To do something that makes you stronger, faster, more complete.

Because you know it’s never too late to have a life. And never too late to change one.

JUST DO IT

4th of July Recap

I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July. This year I had a very untraditional fourth of July but it was fun no less. Usually I spend the fourth with my family at the Rivah, but this year I headed on a road trip up north ot New Jersey.

Courtney, Bethany and I headed up to NJ Friday morning, arrived in NJ around 5 and ran some errands before grabbing a quick bite to eat. I meet some of their UVA friends and we had a fun night enhanced by a new stereo.

Saturday we were planning on going to Seaside Hieghts (yes, the home of Jersey Shore cast) but after hearing a traffic report saying it would be around 3 hours of traffic, we decided to drive 30 min to Huricanne Harbor instead. We did a lot of the water rides, and while I usually dispise water parks (gross) this time was fun and surprisingly clean!

Saturday night we made dinner and watched Shawshank Redemption, it was such a good movie!

Sunday we woke up early to get to Six Flags before it really "opened." And good thing, we were on the 2nd train for Kingda Ka, the tallest roller coaster in the world and fastest in America! I loved it! Since it was a little rainy and overcast we rode all the major rides with barely to no line, it was amazing. My favorites would have to be Kingda Ka, El Toro, and Nitro.

We left Six Flags and headed to Atlantic City. We got stuck behind a horrible accident and felt blessed to be safe on the rodes. Atlantic City was like nothing I have experienced before. Big lights, bright city for ya. We showered and pregammed before hitting up the casino in our hotel. Hello penny slots! I played penny slots for a while, so fun, and ended up $16 and a free screwdriver.

We also went on the boardwalk to Tropicana, a nearby hotel/casino, to a bar for a bit and walked on the beach. It ended up being a very late night, but so much fun!

Roadtripping & Update

I am off on a roadtrip up to New Jersey. It will be my first real time visiting the garden state. We will be visiting the beach, Six Flags, and Atlantic City! It should be a fun-filled weekend!

Monday night all the interns went rock-climbing, Tuesday a few of us went to a local bar for a Happy Hour special, Wednesday I got off work late and had a yummy dinner with my Grandma, and Thursday we had a "wine tasting" (more like free wine) and amazing appetizers. I coin Thursday the night of "too much" - too much wine, too much laughs, too much fun!

Group at Wine Night!

Girls enjoying our wine!

Hope everyone has a great fourth weekend, I am loving 4-day holiday weekends!
